Miguel García represents House District 14, which includes parts of Downtown Albuquerque, the historic Barelas neighborhood, South Valley, and west central neighborhoods.

The longest serving member of the House of Representatives, Miguel has proudly represented these areas known for their rich cultural heritage, strong community ties, and its diverse population since 1997.

A multigenerational New Mexico native, Miguel earned a Bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University and a Master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. Before entering politics, he worked as a real estate broker and a Spanish teacher in Albuquerque Public Schools, where he gained valuable firsthand experience in multicultural classroom education.

Throughout his time in the House, Miguel has been a staunch advocate for New Mexico’s traditional agricultural communities, environmental protection, education, and labor rights.

He serves on the House Labor, Veterans’ & Military Affairs, and the House Energy, Environment & Natural Resources Committees.
